Food is a set of instructions that informs our livelihood and connects us to the environment around us. Maize only works with businesses committed to these values, and we evaluate each with a careful criteria.

Producers

  • Commited to operating in a sustainable way that protects regional resources and eliminates waste when possible
  • Committed to operating in a true organic way, with no pesticides or fertilizers, and using regenerative agriculture practices
  • Treats animals with care, and raises and feeds on pasture, with room to move and maintain a healthy natural diet

Restaurants

  • Is local, family, or cooperatively owned and committed to supporting sustainable regional food systems
  • Has a reputation of great tasting food. Sure, typically local tastes better anyway, but the chefs and cooks at Maize locations are crafting the good stuff
  • Sources, when possible, products grown on local farms, or sells products made by their business using raw locally grown materials, or uses fair trade, sustainable, and/or organic ingredients in their products

Markets & Retail
